Who AI Recommends When Buyers Ask

What changed this week in AI discovery.

· Switzerland

A buyer asks AI for a business like yours. Do you know whether your company makes the answer - or how it describes your offer? This week’s research gives companies three reasons to look more closely.

1. Established companies are missing from AI answers

Rezolve Ai published its US AI Visibility Study on October 6. It tested questions about 2,047 companies’ markets across four AI models with web search, without naming the companies in the questions. In tests run September 23–October 1, 498 companies - 24.3% of the sample - were never named.

Why it matters for companies: The useful question is whether AI brings you up when a buyer describes a need. A GEO report should show where you appear for relevant questions and which competitors appear alongside you.

2. Company websites are only part of the picture

Quaryan’s study, published October 9 and expanded October 10, examined 1,728 AI answers about local businesses in six Swiss cities. Business websites supplied most cited pages. Directories, review and comparison sites also appeared in about 40% of answers that included citations.

Why it matters for companies: Your public company profiles deserve the same care as your website. Make your services, customers and location clear, and check which sources AI actually uses when answering questions about your market.

3. A cited answer still needs checking

A five-engine study published October 8 by Is My Brand in AI checked 3,465 figures in answers to 50 price and cost questions. In its ChatGPT sample, 57% of the figures could be found on a cited page. The check measured whether numbers appeared in sources; their accuracy was untested.

Why it matters for companies: A mention count cannot tell you whether AI gives buyers the right picture of your business. Check the description, services and commercial terms against your actual offer.

What we’re watching: Which company sources AI uses when buyers move from a broad question to a specific service, location or use case.

The bigger picture: A useful GEO report shows where AI overlooks or misrepresents your company. A clear listing on The Million Token Window puts your core business information in one readable place. Both begin with the same question: can the right customer recognize you as a fit?

Every Tuesday, AI Discovery looks at the shifts changing how companies are found and contacted, before they become impossible to ignore.
